 DIDACTIC PROPOSAL I

11-12 years old / 6th (Elementary School).
Aim/s
To present oneself and use and understand standard greetings.
To ask and give personal information.
To understand and carry out instructions and participate in everyday conversations.
To read, understand and extract specific information from a text.
To identify different types of text and their purpose.
To plan and write an email.
To identify and use the target vocabulary and structures correctly.
To pronounce correctly the basic phonetic sounds.
To develop a positive attitude towards English.
To value the importance of learning a foreign language and the possibility it gives one to know and understand different cultures and traditions.

-  Conversation models based on greetings and leave taking.

-  Responding to personal information questions.

-  Phonetic and sounds
-  Listening and pronunciation practice of the phonetic sounds

-  Reading and comprehension exercises based on teenagers’ interests (famous people, teenagers’ lives).
-  Development of reading appreciation.

-  Writing an email/dialogue and factfile based on a model.

-  ICT investigation
-  Developing new learning strategies to search for information using the Internet.

-  Model plans to organize work and improve learning.

-  Texts about famous English speaking personalities.

Greetings, leave taking, informal and formal introductions, colours, numbers, alphabet, personal information and details, family, likes and dislikes, hobbies.
Timing
4 Sessions (Each has a duration of 55 minutes).

- Personal Computer.
- Student's Book.
- Digital Blackboard.
Grouping and interaction
Grammatical contents: big group.
Speaking contents: small grups.

Evaluation
Criteria

· Use of English
- Is capable of identifying and using correctly the verb to be and Wh words.

- To understand and use correctly the target vocabulary (greetings,
 numbers, colours, personal information, hobbies).


· Writing
- Is capable of planning and writing an email based on a model using the correct target language.

· Listening
- Is capable of understanding and carrying out instructions and participating in everyday conversations.

· Speaking
- Is able to give and understand personal information and respond correctly.

- Is able to present him/herself and to use and understand standard greetings.

- Is capable of identifying and pronouncing the basic phonetic sounds correctly.

· Reading Test
- Is able to read, understand and extract specific information from a text or piece of writing.

- Is able to identify the main ideas in the text and to read for gist.

- Is capable of identifying different types of text and their purpose.
